1962年、第三回ジュアン･レパン国際ジャズ･フェスティヴァルに出演したディジー･ガレスピーのライヴ演奏と、ニューヨークのスタジオ･セッションを収録。オリジナルはPhillips。ピアニストにはラロ･シフリン、ギターには、あのジャンゴ･ラインハルトのいとこ、Elek Bascikが参加している。世の中のボサ･ブームにあって、カルロス･ジョビンの楽曲も2曲演奏。しかし、ディジーは元々、ラテン音楽とジャズを結びつけたパイオニア。もちろん一過性の流行に乗った演奏ではない。オリジナル･プロデューサーはクインシー･ジョーンズ。
ジャケット写真は、このジュアン･レパンでのもの。
