■1931年ルイジアナ生まれのテナー奏者、プラス・ジョンソン。ソウル・ジャズ、ハードバップのジャズシーンで活躍した。ヘンリー・マンシーニ作の“ピンクパンサーのテーマ”でサックスソロを吹いていることでも有名。1962年に録音された「Sax 5th Ave.」(MGM Records/CRC Charter CLS 102) と「On the Scene」(MGM Records/CRC Charter CLS104) のカプリング。
